How bad does sex hurt postpartum for that first time?I think it's going to be different for everyone.I had an episiotomy- so I had stitches.
I was VERY tight down there for MONTHS.
Personally, I don't think I was tighter due to the stiches- and I had no pain from the cut or the stiches-
I too was surprised how tight it felt under the circumstances-
I also think it feels that way due to bruising?
It was a trial and error thing the first few months for us- at first, we'd try and then have to stop.
Then we'd try, and although it would be a bit uncomfortable, I 'd still go for it because I was afraid if I never tried, it would never get better.
And then, of course, it eventually went back to normal.
There is no one time frame for everyone- we all are ready at different times!!
I know shame shame on me too... I had sex for the first time 5 weeks after I gave birth.. that was a struggle for us to wait 5 weeks lol my doctor just said they recommend 6 weeks but because I had no pain the first time at 5 weeks I was fully healed and it was ok... I was really surprised because I had always heard that it hurt... I did notice it was tighter which also made me confused but I had to have stiches do to an episiotomy so maybe that is why I felt tighter?!?How bad does sex hurt postpartum for that first time?Well i had a c-section and it still hurt me like it did my very first time. I asked my OB about it and he said, obviously stitches and healing from natural birth cause pain, but it feels about the same for someone with a c-section because of the hormones. He said they're about the same level as in menopause which can cause a lot of discomfort. It felt tight to me but not very different to my husband. Hormones are a *****.How bad does sex hurt postpartum for that first time?
Depending on your situation. Did you get stitches? Was there tearing? Those can both be causes for pain and the only thing that will heal that is time. A lot, I think, is our mental state about "the 1st time". We all are a little nervous about it and that anxiety and cause it to be more painful. Wait until you and your partner are both completely ready and take it slow. Do only what feels comfortable and pretty soon you will be back in sync.
Usually doctors say wait 6 wks for a reason. It is suppose to hurt at first but eventually will get better. I, and many others I know, were told to wait the 6 wks; for our 6 wk postpartum checkup. How bad does sex hurt postpartum for that first time?
