Having unprotected sex the day you start birth control. Could you get pregnant?

Hiya!

My best friend and her boyfriend had unprotected sex the day that she started her pill. She has been feeling sick in the mornings, and now her and I are worried that she might be pregnant. Is it possible?

Thanks for all your help!Having unprotected sex the day you start birth control. Could you get pregnant?Yes, it is possible. The pill takes a month to work and doctors/clinics usually tell women to use a back up method for the first month. Take a pregnancy test.Having unprotected sex the day you start birth control. If you mean she just started as in, first pill of that pack after a one week break, but she's been on them for more than a month already - no.

If she just started, as in first pill in more than a month - then yes, it is still a risk. First, if she started and this was the first one, it means it's about the last day of her period - pill or not it's a bit too early for ovulation. Sex with no birth control at all is unlikely to result in pregnancy at that time of her cycle. Unlikely - but not impossible. The more irregular she tends to be, the more the risk of ovulation off schedule.

Second, the pill manufacturers make no guarantee that the pill works effectively the first month. You body is still getting used to it. You may ovulate anyway that month. They say "use alternate protection the first month". They say that for a reason.

The pill is not a matter of "take one today, you're protected today". It sets and holds a specific level of hormones in your body so your ovaries think you're past the ovulation phase of your cycle and don't release an egg. After 3 weeks, when you stop or use the dud pills, the hormone levels drop and by then you go straight to period rather than ovulation. Missing more than one pill, or before you've been on them for long enough to train your ovaries, the hormone levels fall to where your body make take over and decide to ovulate a day or several down the road.

Use as directed!

Good luck!Having unprotected sex the day you start birth control. Could you get pregnant?everytime that you have sex you can get pregnant. thats why you use a condom. most pills you start the first day of your period. it all depends when her period was and when she ovulates
Yes she can be pregnant. If she started birth control on her period like your supposed to then her chances of pregnancy are lower but still there. The side effects of bc can make her feel sick, have breast tenderness, miss her period.Having unprotected sex the day you start birth control. Could you get pregnant?it is very possible. the pill is not effective until a full month of taking it.Having unprotected sex the day you start birth control. Could you get pregnant?
As long as you have sex, you can get pregnant regardless of the protection.
