Me and my girlfriend had sex using a condom, and the condom seemed to leak a little bit near the base. We went to a bathroom and she cleaned up, then immediately went to a pharmacy and purchased the morning after pill (plan B) she took it about 40 minutes after sex. Also she just got off her period that day as well. How effective is this pill in our case? How effective is the morning after pill if taken 40 minutes after sex?You should be just fine, so don't worry. As you know, Plan B should be taken ASAP after contraceptive failure and you both acted well within the 72 hour confines. The ordinary risks of becoming pregnant from the condom breaking or unprotected sex is about 1 in 20. When you take Plan B, the odds lower to 1 in 40.
If you ever find yourself in this situation again (which I hope you don't) I would use the morning after pill called ella instead of Plan B. It is effective for 5 days instead of 3 and doesn't lose effectiveness as the hours go by like Plan B does. It also lowers the chance of pregnancy even further to 1 in 50. Women 14 and older can have it prescribed online and sent to their home next-day. You can also keep it on hand in case of emergencies.
Good luck and be safe! How effective is the morning after pill if taken 40 minutes after sex?My guess is that in a couple of weeks you can find out by taking and EPT Test. What a dumb question, thanks for the two points.
