If the Mirena was put in place on day one of your period, then contraceptive cover is immediate. If it was put in place anywhere else in your cycle, then you have to wait a full 7 days before having unprotected sex,



The above two answers are quite incorrect. It's a complete myth that hormone contraceptives take a month to work. The same rule applies for ALL hormone contraceptives- if it is started on day one of your period,- contraceptive cover is immediate. If you start anywhere else in your cycle, then you have to wait a full 7 days before you have contraceptive cover. Your Dr will/ should have explain this to you. It is indeed his duty as a prescribing physician to do so.

Well we already know that you have kids because you got the Mirana. You should wait 2 weeks..and yes, there is always a chance you can be pregnant. Nothing is fully certain...it's only 99.9 percent certain =)
