How do you respond when people say you're not Christian when you are.?

This happened a while ago then just the other day. I'm an Anglican and like most Anglicans I know I'm pretty laid back. A while back some one suggested that Anglicans and Catholics were not Christians. This boggled my mind that someone would say something like this. then not long ago I was taking part in an online discussion and another person suggested that I was not Christian and have to find Jesus to be saved. I know we should never take online conversation to heart but it was a little bit hurtful.

How should a person respond to something like this? Why can't we all just get along? How do you respond when people say you're not Christian when you are.?
Try not to take it to heart. I know that is easier said than done but you know your relationship with the Lord better than anyone else does. When someone says that to you, look in your heart, know where you stand and shrug it off.
Love them as Christ would. How do you respond when people say you're not Christian when you are.?
First off, please remember that not everything said on the Internet is true.
most christians think every other christian is a fake christian. How do you respond when people say you're not Christian when you are.?
Say "you can believe what you want to believe - it doesn't make it true."
We should all be able to get along, I agree. You have to remember though, you are not here for other people, you are here for God. Don't let yourself be of this earth anymore because you're just in it. Don't feed into those ways of the world even though it can get hard sometimes. Love them and know that they just lack knowledge..pray for them and be fortunate that you know the Truth! :)
Jesus requires people who say they believe in Him to study scriptures to learn about Him. He said that those who say they love Him but refuse to obey Him..have only lied about loving Him and have to begin all over again.
Fundamentalist and evangelical Christians have a very narrow view of what constitutes Christianity, and it excludes everything that is not fundamentalist and/or evangelical.

Pray for them.
I think it helps to remember you are in good company when that happens- Jesus was the Son of God, and they didn't believe Him either. They killed Him for saying that He was, and it was true! People are always quick to judge others. They don't know your background, your life, or your heart. You can always do what Jesus did when he was being crucified, "Forgive them Lord, for they know not what they do."

The One who really matters knows your heart anyway.

Just remember that those who make quick judgments are often immature in their faith. They have just enough Bible in them to make them dangerous, but not enough to give them compassion and common sense. Don't hold it against them.
If your saved then it should not offend. Have you ever heard the saying if someone throws a rock at a pack of dogs and the first one to yelp is the guilty one. Maybe God is trying to tell you something. I am not being mean, so please do not take it that way. Read Romans 10, and ask your self did this take place.
Christianity formerly was identified by what you believe. However, since the 1930s, Christianity has become more concerned with what you feel. As such, it has lost its savor.
congrats! now you have an idea of what it is like for those of us who are not Christian. judgement abounds. deal with it. get over it. say nothing.

creeps who think they have a right to judge another's faith will face their own music in due time.

no response needed - just ignore the haters. they will take care of themselves.
We should all get along. Do you realize that in order to really be a Christian, you must accept Jesus as your own personal Savior? I'm not trying to say anything hurtful to you, just asking you a simple question.

God Bless you,

John 14:6 "Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me."
It is true. You do have to accept Jesus as your savior and live your life according to his commandments and teachings in order to be a christian. No Jesus - no christianity. That is just the way it goes.
First of all in my opinion who ever tells you that you are not a christian should read mathew 7:1 first.

"Do not judge, or you too will be judged. God is the only one who can judge.

However I have been studying the bible closly for sometime, I do not personaly believe catholics and anglicans follow the bible the way jesus wanted, I can tell you why if you want me to, but if not, I pray that you are blessed and God brings you closer to him. Amen
What so many do is they believe themselves to be Christian, and never examine themselves to see if they really are.

We are told in the Bible to examine ourselves to see if we truly are in the faith or not.

Being Christian is NOT a mere intellectual assent to the truths of the Bible. It isn't just knowledge. It is NOT going along and believing what a denomination says either.

At the very heart of it, is the Bible. It is the ONLY way we can know for certain what God wants for us, His will revealed.

Only by reading this, and doing self-examination can you know if you are His or not.

I draw your attention to Matthew 7:21-23.

There will be people that think they have been Christian, even done things in His name, but they are rejected. Why?

Because HE never knew THEM.

Does Jesus know you?

This is what counts.

Take the time to examine yourself.

Do not doubt His ability to save. He can and does.

But we must examine ourselves.
The problem with relying on faith for belief, is that there is nothing to measure your belief with. It is all subjective. So even with the same book, Christians are left to decipher it on their own, or with a perceived help from the divine.

The problem of course is that the divine help they are receiving is also subjective. Some see it as kind and forgiving, others see it as judgmental and lawfull, so they are attracted to verses in the bible that support their subjective view of God.

This leads to arguments and leads them to claim that the other is not a 'true' Christian, because after all, their God wouldn't decieve them, and their personal revelation and understanding of God, cannot be wrong, because that would mean that God either wasn't there, or didn't reveal himself correctly to them.

The only thing that most Christians agree on, is that the bible is clear and very understandable, while they fight over almost every aspect of it.
Perhaps, you should study your Bible and discover who God is and what He wants form you? Then you might begin to see!
If I was already in an online discussion, as you were, and someone said I wasn't a Christian and I have to find Jesus to be saved I would ask them what makes them think I don't believe in Jesus? Was it something I said or is it just a Label? Learn from peoples questions. Go from there. If you do believe in Him (cling to, adhere to) then they jumped to a judgemental conclusion - a prejudice - about "Anglicans and Catholics". Keep communicating. Alot of people don't have a clue until you tell them. Online they aren't watching your life. That's why I don't like denominational labels. The person was right in saying to be a Christian you have to have Jesus to be saved because He is what Christianity is all about. Don't be hurt, just keep the discussion open and clarify your beliefs. We could all get along if we respect each other.
I just tell them Christ is my judge. There's really not much more you can say to people who exhibit such bigotry and immaturity.

There's a saying that goes "you don't have to blow out my candle to make yours glow brighter".

It fits this situation perfectly. They're just trying to make themselves look better by saying they are the true Christians. It's ridiculous.

Do you believe Christ is your Saviour? Do you worship Him? Then you are a Christian.
Yes. Quite alot. I'm a Jehovah's Witness and many say we aren't Christian and that we don't believe in Jesus. However we do put faith in Jesus ransom sacrifice and follow his commandments.
