Is ovulation determined by subtracting 14 from cycle length?

The only thing I'm sure of is how long my cycle is, which I'm told is the first day of my last period to the day BEFORE my next. So, if I started in Oct on the 9th and then in Nov. on the 8th that would make my cycle 29 days long right? Now, I read online that the Luteal phase usually doesn't vary in most women and lasts 14 days. And to find out ovulation one would subtract 14 from the length of the cycle. In which case that would make me ovulating on Nov 15th. Is this correct? If so, why does it come up differently when I input my information into an ovulation calculator online? Can someone please explain this to me in extreme layman's terms? Can you use the information I gave you about my cycle to explain in mathematical terms? I've read other people's explanations for ovulation and all the added info just boggles my mind. I need as simple an explanation as possible please.Is ovulation determined by subtracting 14 from cycle length?
Every woman is different, but typically: the day you start your period is the FIRST day of your cycle, and the LAST day is the day before your next one. So your information is correct there. Ovulation typically takes place 10 to 14 days after the first day of your cycle, but again, every woman is different, so there's no "magic day" when you'll ovulate.

If you want an easy way to track ovulation, take your temperature orally each day. When you're ovulating, your temperature will rise by 1 or 2 degrees.Is ovulation determined by subtracting 14 from cycle length?
Ovulation USUALLY occurs on Cd 14,give or take a day,then if you have a regular 28 day cycle,you should get your period 14 days later! Good LLuck!Is ovulation determined by subtracting 14 from cycle length?
CD=Cycle Day

CD1= 1st day of actual menstrual flow

On a 29 day cycle you are most likely to ovulate CD15-CD19

To pinpoint ovulation buy a 20 day opk. Use one a day beginning on CD3 and continuing through the end of the kit. The + (test line as dark or darker than the control) indicates that you will ovulate within 12-48 hours.

Remember though, to increase your odds of getting pregnant, your best bet is to bd before you ovulate as well as for 2-3 days after your positive opk.
