Hi everyone!
I have a small black moor fish and a normal small goldfish... I got them on the 20th, I only have a very small tank, about 4 gallons... I am going to get a larger tank, I hope it helps...
Anyway the normal goldfish is fine, swimming around and happy :) the other one, the black moor, has been really sluggish today... And its getting worse. Its sunk to the bottom of the tank and its hardly moving. I looked online and there is a suggestion that it might have constipation... It isnt bloated though..
Other sources say that sadly its dying.. I really hope not.. Hes so cute.. (Ive called him Boggles II, I had a black moor before.. and sadly he died too :C )
Any suggestions? I am actually really worried about him :( I dont want it to suffer..Someone please help with my goldfish..?
4 gallons, 2 goldfish, no filter?
That is way to small .... goldfish produce a lot of waste. The water is probably very dirty and/or there might not be enough oxygen in the water. Stop feeding, start doing water changes, and get your water tested. You should not be seeing any ammonia/nitrite in a healthy environment.Someone please help with my goldfish..?
after the first paragraph i stopped reading, coz anybody whos an expert on fish would know the problem...4 gallons is WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY too small, the ph levels in ur tank must be really high, killing BOTH of ur fish, they are NOT NOT NOT fine....NOT! get a bigger tank ASAP..also there must me very little oxygen in the "tank" too, suffocating ur fishSomeone please help with my goldfish..?
He could be dying from ammonia poisoning faster than his companion. Have you tested the water? Changed it?
It could be constipated and they are so fat anyhow you wouldn't notice. one suggestion that seems to work sometimes is to starve them for 4 day and then feed them brine shrimp.
Also, have you cycled your tank, and tested for ammonia and nitrite?. You have to have cycled filtered tank with zero ammonia and almost zero nitrite or it will either get ammonia poisoning when it gasps at the surface or Brown blood, which is slow nitrite poisoning with causes lethargy, which sounds like what you have.
You can't keep him anything smaller than a ten gallon tank. he has survived nine days. i would get a bottle of dechlor and do a 40% water change every day until you get the larger tank. It may live if you lower the nitrites, but on your new tank, again their will be no cycle. Purchase a bottle of Bio Spira or Safe Start which contain all the necessary bacteria to set up a cycle. the manufacturer claims you can add 1 0r 2 fish the first day if you added bio spira, as it prevent ammonia spikes and brown blood. This is probably your only chance of saving the fish.
